BALLINASLOE ENHANCEMENT PLAN TO BE CHANGED

The proposed enhancement plan for Ballinasloe is to be changed following meetings between officials, councillors and business people.

The controversial plan was discussed at a meeting of the Town Council last night.

Prior to the meeting 200 people marched to the Council offices to express their opposition to parts of the plan.

It had been proposed in the plan that 70 trees be planted on the main streets, the number of paid-parking spaces be reduced by 30 and the width of the main street be reduced.

But some of these elements will now be changed.
