The Baboró children’s arts festival takes place from October 12 to 18, and members of the public have the opportunity to sponsor a child or a class to attend the event for a day.

The Baboró Culture for Schools was launched last year by the late Teenagh Cunningham, who was a firm believer in the importance of creativity in the everyday lives of children.

The Culture for Schools programme is a very simple proposition. A business or individual can sponsor a child or a class to attend Baboró for a day.

Spokesperson Aislinn Ó hEocha said: “It might be your alma matter or your child or grandchild’s school. Or you might like Baboró to help you make the choice – we work with hundreds of schools around the county.

“You decide on the level of investment you would like to make. €10 will pay for a child to attend the festival and €250 will pay for an entire class. The children get a note home in their bags telling parents about your generosity in paying for their trip to Baboró, with the details of the show.

“The children get to see a show, an opportunity they might otherwise miss out on – all thanks to you. Baboró gets more investment and grows audiences, enabling them to continue to develop Ireland’s flagship International arts festival for children & families. So it’s a win for the children, a win for you and a win for Baboró.

“Baboró can organise everything, from first contact with your chosen school, to organising their attendance, booking their tickets, sending them their free pre-engagement pack, arranging a free workshop and even their bus subsidy. Think about how delighted they will be when they hear that you, or your business, have supported them to attend a Baboró event,” she said.
