Award-winning Galway restaurant closing down despite 'building something really special'

The restaurant’s owners said it was a ‘heartbreaking decision’ but ‘the most important one to keep our honesty, integrity and the whole history that we made intact’
An award winning Galway restaurant is sadly closing its doors for the final time at the end of August.
Despite “building something really special”, the owners at Chef Laura Rosso on Grattan Road in Salthill said the closure was important in order to keep the “integrity, honesty and history” of the business they had created.
Awarded Chef of The Year in 2023 and the Employee Excellence Award this year at the Irish Restaurant Awards, the business - owned and operated by Laura Rosso and Lucas - began as a lockdown project before turning into a thriving Brazilian inspired restaurant.
The owners of Chef Laura Rosso Restaurant said in their goodbye video: “Hi everyone. Unfortunately we’re going to be closing our doors at the end of the month.
“It’s a heartbreaking decision but it’s the most important to keep our honesty, integrity and the whole history that we made in the last five years intact.
“Even though it’s really hard for us to make this decision, it’s the right thing to do at the moment.”
They continued: “We want to thank all the customers that came through our doors in the last five years. And if you have a chance to come one more time in the next three weeks, we will be really happy to welcome you once again.
“We are going to try to be always smiling here for you but if you see some crying as well, it’s normal so don’t be worrying.”
The owners finished by saying: “We would like to thank all our staff as well who have been with us a very long time. We really believe we built something really special here.
“Thank you everyone for coming and we hope to see you one more time again.”
