ATTEMPTED BURGLARIES IN ABBEYKNOCKMOY AND PORTUMNA
Date Published: 06-Feb-2013
Gardai are investigating a possible link between two attempted burglaries at shops in Abbeyknockmoy and Portumna overnight.
The raiders fled both scenes in what's believed to be a silver coloured vehicle.
The first incident took place just after 1 this morning when raiders broke into O'Donohoe's Spar and service station in Abbeyknockmoy.
A quantity of cigarettes was taken before the raiders were disturbed by the owner who, it's understood, may have fired a warning shot.
Another incident, which gardai belive may be connected took place after 2 this morning when raiders attempted to break-in to the Gala Express and service station on St. Brendan's Road in Portumna.
They were however disturbed by gardai and headed in the direction of Borrisokane.
