One of the leading rock bands on the planet enjoyed a surprise visit to the West of Ireland this week when the six members of Arcade Fire tucked into dinner at one of Galway’s best-known seafood restaurants. The band members delighted both staff and customers by posing for photographs at Moran’s Oyster Cottage in Kilcolgan on Monday night, just hours after playing a major outdoor concert at Marlay Park in Dublin. It had been a massive weekend for the Canadian-American rockers, based in Montreal, as they also played a storming two hour headlining set at the world-renowned Glastonbury Festival in England on Friday. It is understood the band members travelled to Galway on Monday, after producing a storming set along with 1980s rockers The Pixies in Dublin on Sunday night. The owners of Moran’s Oyster Cottage posted two photos of the band on their own Facebook page following the visit by Win Butler, Regine Chassagne, and company on Monday. "Lovely evening at the Weir with the Arcade Fire,” posted the Moran family. Arcade Fire have produced four albums over the course of a 13 year career and their reputation as one of the best live bands in the world was enhanced by their set at Glastonbury, which was televised ‘live’ on BBC2 on Friday. Although she confirmed that the band members visited the premises on Monday night, restaurant owner Catherine Moran said she would prefer not to comment on individual customers when contacted by the Galway City Tribune yesterday.
