The Aran Islands have been voted among the top-ten most unspoilt islands of North and West Europe.A panel of 522 experts in sustainable tourism gave the islands a 78 score out of a hundred in the annual National Geographic Destination Survey. The islands are described as an "Unspoilt, beautiful, and dramatic destination for archaeology, bird-watching, and spectacular hill walking".The experts add that the authenticity of the Aran Islands which has survived the modern world "is nothing short of miraculous".The one criticism the National Geographic experts point out, is that tourists could be more informed about the Aran Islands during the ferry ride to the island.
