ARAN ISLANDS INCLUDED IN COST CUTTING ENERGY SCHEME

Aran Islanders are doing their bit to help the environment with a new energy saving scheme.Homes on Inis Mór, Inis Meain and Inis Oírr are to be upgraded with energy saving lamps in the coming weeks.The move is part of an Island initative between Philips Lighting Ireland and island organisation, Comhar na nOileán.Under the scheme, the lamps could achieve savings of up to 400 euro for the island homes.Minister Eamon O Cuiv will launch the initative next Tuesday September 8th by sending the first consignment of lamps to Inis Oirr.
