Applications open for ice-cream permits at county beaches
Galway Bay fm newsoom – Applications have been opened for permits to sell icecream and light refreshments at designated beaches around the county. The permit covers the summer season of June, July, August and September. The list of beaches includes Trá na bhForbacha; Céibh Nua An Spidéil; Trá Inis Oírr and White Strand beach, Renvyle. Application forms are available on the Galway County Council website www. galway.ie or at County Hall. Speaking in the Seanad earlier this month, Fine Gael Senator Catherine Noone said the chimes of ice-cream vans were an aggressive form of marketing to children. She said the “pester power” of ice-cream vans could be contributing to the problem of child obesity and has called for regulation of the sector.
