AN BORD SNIP RECOMMENDS ABOLISHING GALWAY MINISTERS DEPARTMENT

An Bord Snip Nua has recommended that the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs be abolished in a cost saving measure.The report, published today [16/7], recommends that the Department be dispersed among other larger Departments.There had been speculation that Galway West T.D and Minister Éamon Ó Cuív would lose his portfolio if the recommendation was implemented.However it's understood deaprtment sources are not concerned at this point that Minister Ó Cuív's may lose his postition.The report also recommends merging Galway city and county VECs, and other VECs around the country.
