Gardai have issued a warning to landlords in Galway to be mindful of suspicious behaviour at rented properties in relation to drug related offences.

It follows a number of recent discoveries of grow-houses thoughout the county - with 730 thousand euro worth of cannabis plants found in two such operations in Mervue and Roscam last weekend.

Warning signs include drawn curtains to provide artificial lights for the plants to grow and excessively high ESB bills.

A strong odour may also be noted with windows left slightly ajar even in cold weather conditions for ventilation purposes.
