A franchise agreement between Aer Lingus and Galway based airline Aer Arann has officially taken off.

Under the agreement, Aer Arann will run 12 routes from Dublin and Cork to Britain and France.

The service uses Aer Arann aircraft and crew and is the sole responsibility of the Galway airline.

Earlier this month, Aer Arann workers threatened to strike over the deal claiming they're forced to work more nights for no extra reward.
