Emergency consultants are calling on the HSE to cut the opening hours of the A and E department at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe on safety grounds.

The Irish Association of Emergency Medicine says there aren't enough A & E doctors with the necessary experience to safely treat patients.

It's claiming not enough is being done by the HSE to recruit doctors from abroad.
