A proposal to allow public access to Lough Inch in the West of the city via the proposed outer city bypass has been criticised by a Barna businessman. Lough Inch Angling Group and Barna Co-op representative, Eugene McKeown, wants Galway County Council to provide access to the lake via a local road in the interests of public safety.Lough Inch is one of 15 amenities listed in the Barna Local Area Plan. But Eugene McKeown says by allowing the bypass to go ahead as planned, Galway County council will destroy three of those, including cutting off access to Lough Inch, to the pitch and putt course and to the only playing pitch in the area.
