90 percent increase in domestic violence in the city
Galway Bay fm newsroom - There has been a ninety percent increase in incidents of domestic violence reported to Gardaí in the city, although figures remain relatively low.
19 incidents, including breaching of barring order, safety order and protection order, were reported between January and August this year.The statistics were presented at a meeting of the Joint Policing Committee.Garda figures also show that there were 12 reports of rape, 5 of which are historical.There was an 18 percent increase in sexual assaults, with 20 recorded within the period.
