60 THOUSAND GALWAY HOMES PAY HOUSEHOLD CHARGE

Over 60 thousand homes across the city and county have now paid their household charge.

The city now has the second highest compliance rate in the country at 74 percent representing over 20 thousand householders.

The county compliance rate now stands at 64 percent with 40 thousand households paying the 200 euro levy.

This represents an increase of 8 percent from early July when just 56 percent of county homes had paid up.

Ger Mullarkey is Head of Finance with Galway County Council - he is urging those who have not yet complied to do so as soon as possible.
