Fifty jobs are to go at leading Galway employer Boston Scientific in the Ballybrit Business Park.

Management at the company addressed Galway workers today to announce the job cuts.

The job cuts are part of a global restructuring programme announced by the company last year to operate more cost effectively.

Boston Scientific says the 50 Galway employees affected will be offered a comprehensive support programme.
