330 PATIENTS ON TROLLIES AT UHG EVERY MONTH THIS YEAR

There was an average of 330 patients on trollies at University Hospital Galway every month this year.

New figures released by the Irish nurses and midwives organisation reveal that there were 4000 patients on trollies at UHG between September 2009 and August 2010.

Their figures also reveal a worrying upward trend of patients on trollies in Galway hospitals over the years.

Last month, 232 patients were on trollies at UHG compared to 132 patients in August 2005.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation is calling on the HSE to take immediate action.
