250 APPLICATIONS FOR GALWAY TENANT PURCHASE SCHEME

Galway County Council has received over 250 expressions of interest for the tenant purchase scheme.

Director of Services Eugene Cummins says the scheme must be finalised by the end of June next year.

Almost all necessary valuations have now been secured by the local authority.

Under the scheme, a tenant can apply to the Local Authority to purchase their house.

The purchase price of the dwelling would be its market value as determined by the Local Authority in its existing state of repair less € 3,809, and less a discount of 3% for each year of tenancy subject to a maximum of 30%.
