The President of the Odyssey Marine exploration company claims there may be up to 200 million dollars worth of silver cargo aboard a shipwreck 300 miles from the Galway coast.
Mark Gordon says there is up to 7 million ounces of silver aboard the remains of the ship.
So far the company has reportedly recovered 48 tonnes of silver bullion from the shipwreck which is 3 miles deep under water.
The Galway Coast has been harbouring the precious metal load since February 1941 when the 412-feet steel-hulled British cargo ship, the SS Gairsoppa was torpedoed by a German U-boat during the Second World War.
Speaking to Fox news, Mr Gordon says the silver on the shipwreck could be worth over 200 million dollars
