20 LOCATIONS PINPOINTED FOR GALWAY BIKE SCHEME

At least 20 areas across Galway have been identified as locations for the roll out of the bike rental scheme.

It's expected to be partly available by next Summer, in time for the volvo ocean race which will attract tens of thousands of people to Galway.

Key hub areas such as Eyre square, UHG, NUI Galway, Salthill and Blackrock have all been pinpointed as locations where the scheme would work best.

It's understood that tenders for the contract are being assessed and a company is expected to be chosen by Spetember.

Public meetings on the proposed bike scheme will then take place in October.
