Galway is one of the poorest performing counties for Planning Commencements.

The National Housing Construction Index compiled by Link2Plans shows a continued drop in construction activity here.

The research shows that from January to April this year, 295 applications were submitted in the county - a drop of 18 percent when compared to the same period last year.

The figures also show a 31 percent decrease in commencement notices issued in Galway.
