178 jobs were created in the Galway Gaeltacht last year.
Figures in the Údarás na Gaeltachta End of Year Statement show that there were over 2 thousand 700 full time jobs recorded in the region at the end of 2011.
The new Galway Gaeltacht jobs were created in areas such as digital media, medical devices, services and the manufacturing sector.
The report also shows however that 60 Údarás supported jobs were lost in the region- mainly due to company downsizing.
