Heavy rain could 'cause issues' for Irish Open as Ireland braces for washout weekend

Friday and Saturday are set to see the worst of the wet weather
Ireland is set for another spell of unsettled weather, with heavy rain and blustery winds forecast to sweep across the country heading into the weekend.
Met Éireann says conditions will remain changeable over the coming days, with periods of dry and bright weather quickly followed by spells of rain and showers.
Carlow weatherman Alan O’Reilly has said Friday and Saturday will see the worst of the heavy rain which is likely to “cause issues” for the Irish Open in Doonbeg.
Meanwhile, Met Éireann have given their five-day-forecast predicting changeable conditions with dry and bright days, followed in turn by wet or showery ones.

This morning, rain over the eastern half of the Ireland will gradually clear to the east. Bright or sunny spells and scattered showers will follow from the west. Moderate to fresh southerly winds will ease light to moderate southwesterly as rain clears. Highest temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees, warmest in the south.
Tonight will start off mostly cloudy with scattered showers. These will become isolated and mostly confined to the northwest overnight with more clear spells developing. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees with light, occasionally moderate, southwesterly breezes.
Friday
Friday will be mostly dry and bright with sunny spells and just the odd light shower. Cloud will build in the west later in the evening. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees, with light, occasionally moderate, west to southwest breezes.
Becoming blustery for most with rain developing mainly across the north and west of the country overnight, becoming more widespread by morning and turning heavy at times. Southwest winds will increase fresh and gusty with lowest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees.

Wet and blustery to start with widespread outbreaks of rain and fresh and gusty southwest winds. Drier conditions will develop in the north through the afternoon, but the rain is likely to persist in the south for much of the day.
