Galway West TD and Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Eamon O'Cuiv, has admitted his department may be done away with in a cabinet re-shuffle.
There's growing speculation Brian Cowen will change a number of ministers' portfolios following the resignations of Trevor Sargent and Willie O'Dea.
The Department of Community, Rural and Gaelteacht Affairs may be abolished or merged with other departments.
Reflecting on his own future at the cabinet table, Minister O'Cuiv added that the Taoiseach will be judging each minister on their merits.
