The Mayor is being urged to call an urgent meeting to discuss the current traffic situation in the city.

Motorists have complained of traffic chaos in recent days as works are clogging up many of the city's main arteries.

Most roundabouts have also been congested during peak traffic times.

Hildegarde Naughton has now been asked to exercise her power as Mayor of Galway to call a special meeting of the city council.

Councillor Padraig Conneely has requested the meeting.
