Tourism development

Galway Chamber of Commerce has resolved to call a meeting of all interested in tourist development for Saturday week.

We hope that not merely all whom the invitations may reach, but all who are interested in this important subject, will make a special effort to attend. The letter from the Free State representative at Geneva that we publish this week reveals how hopelessly remiss the West has been in availing of its wonderful natural beauties to attract the tourist. The poorest province of the four has done practically nothing to utilise the means that lies nearest to hand for increasing its wealth and providing more employment.

Every traveller from America knows the Lakes of Killarney. His tour of Europe would not be regarded as complete unless he had seen them, unless also he had kissed the Blarney Stone. This is the direct result of advertising.
