Date Published: 23-Apr-2009
The Court of Criminal Appeal will deliver its judgment on a later date in the case of a Galway woman who's appealing her nine year prison sentence for killing a neighbour in a drunken row over a puppy.27 year old Una Black formerly of Walter Macken Flats, Mervue, was jailed in July last year - she was nine months pregnant at the time. She was convicted of the manslaughter of her neighbour John Malone. Her lawyers today argued that the nine year sentence was too severe, that no credit was given for her early plea and that the offence was involuntary manslaughter.A decision in her challenge will be handed down later.
