A Claddagh man, who spat in the face of a Garda, has been jailed for three months.

Jason Shaughnessy of 5 Claddagh Place, was convicted under section two of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act.

The 29-year-old father-of-three admitted having a war of words in the patrol car but denied spitting in the Garda's face.
