GOVERNMENT SANCTIONS SWIMMING POOL FOR LOUGHREA

The Government has given the go-ahead for a new swimming pool in Loughrea. The shock announcement comes as Fine Gael planned a public meeting for next Monday to demand the Government deliver a pool for the town. Galway West TD Noel Treacy confirmed this evening to Galway Bay FM News that Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism Martin Cullen has given the final sanction and authorisation to allow the swimming pool proceed to construction. A public private partnership involving four parties will build the pool in conjunction with investor Brian Shaughnessy of the Loughrea Hotel.
