The company building the 207 million euro Gort to Crusheen bypass is facing prosecution next month on pollution charges.

Shannon Regional Fisheries Board is prosecuting SIAC Wills Joint Venture Ltd for allowing material to be emptied into a river and a watercourse near the bypass works.

The 23 kilometre dual carriageway will bypass the south Galway town of Gort and the Clare village of Crusheen when it opens in on November the 12th.
