Garda forensic experts arrive at scene of fatal Gort fire

The blaze broke out at Tom O'Donnell's Flats on the Railway Road at 2.50am.

One of the deceased has been identified as a 38 year old man from the local area while the other has yet to be identified.

Initial examinations indicate it is the body of a female.

The two bodies have now been removed from the flat and taken to UHG where a post mortem examination will take place today.

The scene has been preserved as Garda technical experts complete their examination.

Nobody else was injured in the incident.
