There are fresh hopes a row over the extension of the Westdoc service to west Connemara may be settled soon. Westdoc has decided to apply to Údarás na Gaeltachta and community development organisation Cumas for extra funding for a second weekend doctor. The decision was made at a meeting in Furbo last evening attended by community representatives, County Councillors, doctors, HSE representatives and Minister Éamon Ó Cuív.Minister Ó Cuív said he wouldn't stand in the way of these applications but insisted any arrangements for funding for doctors services from Údarás would have to be temporary.
