FIRST PHYSICIAN APPOINTED TO GALWAY CF TEAM

A physician dedicated to the treatment of adults with Cystic Fibrosis in the West of Ireland has been appointed.

Dr. Michael O' Mahony has joined the team at Galway University Hospitals.

The appointment of the specialist means patients who may have travelled to Dublin for some treatments previously, can now stay in the West.

Ireland has the highest rate of CF in the world and around 60 patients from Galway, Mayo and Roscommon attend GUH.

Dr. O' Mahony is the first physician to be appointed in the West in the field of CF treatment.
