CITY TO MAKE APPLICATION FOR UPGRADING OF TRANSPORT SYSTEM

Date Published: 09-Mar-2010
A funding application will be made to the Government for an upgraded transport system favouring a rapid busway for the city.
The council approved recommendations in favour of the bendy-bus system at city hall last night.
Despite this, the possibility of a 'light-touch' rail transport system has not been ruled out.
A recent feasibility study dismissed this option as far too risky, costly and disruptive.
The council has agreed however, to work with GLUAS campaigners to look more closely at the project.
