International Women's Day 2026 – Aileen O’Grady, Lady Gregory Hotel

How it all began

The idea for the Lady Gregory Hotel didn’t arrive as a grand business plan.

The opportunity arose and my family felt that Gort and the surrounds deserved another Hotel where people could gather, celebrate, rest and feel at home.

From the very beginning, the vision was to create a family-run hotel that felt warm, welcoming, and rooted in the community . I shared their vision from the start and continue to do . The hotel has become an intricate part of the community and has a welcome for every guest who walks through the door for near or far.

What we do best

It’s all about people. The familiar faces of staff who have been with us for years.

The local families who choose us for their weddings, christenings, anniversaries, and every milestone in between.

That relationship with the community — that two-way loyalty — is one of the things I am most proudest of.

Where I see the business heading next

Looking ahead, I see a future where the hotel continues to grow, but never loses its family soul.

I plan to refresh and improve our facilities to match modern expectations, while keeping the character and charm that people love.

The next chapter is about sustainable growth – growing in a way that respects our people, our town, our values and our environment.

My personal motto

Hospitality is not just about beds and meals – it’s about how you make people feel.

If they leave feeling seen, cared for, and genuinely welcomed, then my team have done a good job.

And that is the heart of the Lady Gregory Hotel story.

My hope is that the next generation in the family will continue with the vision that my parent & I created over the last 27 years ago.
