Sweeney Oil wins Galway Chamber’s Business of the Year Award
A Galway company which suffered the cold winds of recession – only to remerge stronger than ever and as a major employer along the west coast – was named as the overall Galway Chamber Business of the Year at the weekend.
Sweeney Oil earlier took top honours in the Best SME Category – and then added the big prize on the night at the Galmont Hotel.
John Breslin, a Personal Professor in Electronic Engineering at NUIG's College of Science and Engineering, received this year’s President’s Award.
This is given to an individual who has made a contribution to the business life of Galway that is outstanding in every way.
John has a wealth of experience in a range of sectors and is Co-Founder of many businesses such as Galway City Innovation District (PorterShed), Boards.ie, Adverts.ie and StreamGlider
He is also Director and Vice-Chair of WestBIC, Director of Emeritus, American Council on Exercise and Advisor to AISLER, AYLIEN, Pocket Anatomy and Rep.ly.
The Chamber Awards celebrates all that is good about Galway’s business community with the theme for this year being ‘Imeall an Iarthair – Ag Obair As Lámha a Chéile’ or ‘Western Edge, Working Together’.
