New Covid scheme offers once-off cash payment
Galway businesses that continue to be impacted by public health restrictions have been urged to apply for a new support scheme that offers a once-off cash payment to help with the cost of resuming trade.
The Government’s Business Resumption Support Scheme (BRSS) opened for applications last week, and will provide advance tax credits for trading expenses in the form of cash payments to eligible businesses.
Fine Gael TD for Galway West, Minister Hildegarde Naughton, called on local enterprises that continue to be impacted by public health restrictions to apply for the support as soon as possible.
“Individuals, families and enterprises have all made enormous sacrifices in the national effort to suppress the spread of Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic, and it’s vital that we do everything we can to support them,” she said.
“This particular scheme, which is one part of a much broader framework of support for individuals and businesses affected by the pandemic, applies to enterprises whose turnover was reduced by at least 75% between September 2020 and the end of August 2021.
“These are businesses that played their part in protecting people’s health and lives during the darkest days of the pandemic, and they now deserve our support in getting back on their feet again,” added Minister Naughton.
