A Galway business was among thirteen finalists recognised for their world class commitment to people development at the ‘Excellence in People Development Awards’ in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry recently.
Gort-based Lisk Ireland was honoured at the event, hosted by NSAI (National Standards Authority of Ireland) in conjunction with CIPD, celebrated the success of finalists representing a range of industries including pharmaceuticals, education and healthcare.
Broadcaster and entrepreneur, Bobby Kerr was the MC for the evening and Minister of State for Business and Employment, Ged Nash, presented a total of twenty one awards to finalists and category winners.
“I’m delighted to see that so many leading Irish companies recognise that their best competitive edge is their staff – the people who make sure that things happen on a daily basis. Investing in staff creates a knowledge based, efficient workforce which in turn leads to many benefits for organisations.
“Employees that are encouraged to continuously improve are more likely to have new ideas and adapt to new technologies and methods, resulting in an improvement in products and services at a time when companies must constantly create and innovate to meet growing customer demands,” said Maurice Buckley, CEO, NSAI
“This is recognition of the commitment shown by Irish companies to standards of excellence and it reinforces Ireland’s ability to excel on the world stage, across a range of industries such as pharmaceuticals, education and healthcare,” continued Buckley.
The awards are a Government Action Plan for the Jobs initiative to promote the important role that standards play in Ireland’s economy to recognise the remarkable work done with employees within business. Investment in people management standards results in increased efficiencies in processes, increased capacity to adopt new technologies and methods and a higher level of innovation in strategies and products.
NSAI invites members of the business community and the general public to get involved in the development of standards by visiting Your Standards, Your Say on www.nsai.ie.
