Environmental and archaeological preservation are at the heart of BNRG Shessy

BNRG Shessy is a new solar development by Irish-owned renewable energy specialists BNRG.
Located in rural south County Galway in the townlands of Cahercarney and Shessy, this solar farm will deliver 120MW* of solar power.
Carefully selected for its suitability for solar development, this site sits on 148 hectares of rural, low-lying and sheltered land which is strategically located near the national grid.
Once developed, the solar farm will save 35,000* tonnes of carbon emissions annually and will power the equivalent of 23,500* homes, supporting national climate and energy targets.
Subject to planning and participation in a Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS) auction, BNRG Shessy intends to establish a Community Benefit Fund, expected to contribute €3.1 million* to the community over 15 years. The local community will be invited to participate and give views on how the fund can be best invested.
We would like to invite the community to attend a public consultation clinic on Wednesday, 18 June 2025 at Kinvara Community Centre from 3.00pm to 6:30pm.
As space is limited in the Centre, please let our Community Liaison Officer, David Linnane, know if you plan to attend. David is also available to respond to any questions you may have about BNRG Shessy and can be contacted at [email protected] or 086 255 8111.
