Certification award for Connemara company

A leading employer in Connemara has achieved its ISO14001: 2004 Environmental Management System Certification, following recent successful audits by SGS.
Baile na hAbhann-based HID Global Ireland is a high-security, state-of-the-art electronic ID (eID) credential facility that creates products for access and identification-related applications such as electronic passports and contactless swipe ID/access cards.
“Our Galway team worked diligently to achieve this accomplishment,” said Trevor Fox, Director, HID Global Ireland. “ISO14001:2004 certification is increasingly becoming a customer requirement and assures customers that we are conducting business in an environmentally responsible way.”
“This certification by the leading accredited third-party organisation, SGS, further demonstrates our commitment to environmental stewardship and is one of a number of important sustainability initiatives that are underway at HID Global,” added Rory Noone, Director of Operations, HID Global Ireland.
The ISO14001 standard is aimed at identifying and controlling an organisation’s environmental impact and improving environmental performance.
Organisations certified to the standard affirm to their customers, employees, and stakeholders that their environmental impact is continuously being measured and improved.
Key focus areas include legislative compliance, pollution prevention, and minimising the use of energy and other resources while exceeding customer expectations for environmental awareness and management performance.
Originally established 17 years ago, HID Global Ireland was acquired in 2007 by ASSA ABLOY, a worldwide leader in secure identity solutions.
In 2010, the operation was expanded and engineered into one of Ireland’s most advanced secure technology facilities to accommodate the growing global trend toward eIDs and electronic passports (ePassports).
