AUTHORITIES REMOVE TRAVELLER FAMILIES FROM BALLYBANE

A joint Garda and Galway city council operation has removed several Traveller families from a Ballybane housing estate.Up to 40 Gardai, Bailiffs and city council officials moved in on traveller caravans illegally encamped at Fana Glas estate at dawn.A number of City council officials, local authority services backed up by a heavy Garda presence moved in to the illegal encampment early this morning.They towed two caravans to Carrowbrowne while two more moved off by themselves.
