110th St moving ÔWestÕ to MonroeÕs

Twelve years have passed since 110th Street débuted in Galway's Town Hall bar. The club night has done its rounds of the city's venues since then – with nights in the GPO, The Vic, The Radisson and The Cellar. On Saturday, November 20 it comes to Monroe’s Tavern, Lower Dominick St.
This will be the first time the club has in the part of town that city people affectionately call ‘the West’ when resident DJs Cyril Briscoe and Cian Ó Cíobháin roll back the years with a mélange of house, techno and disco classics from the club's storied past.
Cian Ó Cíobháin is the presenter of An Taobh Tuathail which broadcasts every Monday to Friday from 11pm to 1am on Radio na Gaeltachta. He has also released three excellent compilations of the same name.
Cyril and Cian describe their approach to DJing as ‘holistic’. The pair have been known to dig out vintage Abba and 70s’ disco anthems but are also equally happy to play bleepy European techno to people who don't bother going to bed at weekends.
For much of 2008, Cyril and Cian hosted Saturdays at The Cellar Underground in Eglinton. Here, techno and house was the order of the day, and the night attracted a loyal core of clubbers.
After a brief time out, which was mostly spent stocking their wine cellars, the lads re-surfaced in 2009 and have been belting out tunes ever since.
Doors for 110th St in Monroe’s are 11pm and admission is €10.
